All About Me Summer Math Activity combines Instagram, math, and creativity. Students will introduce themselves and their summer in numbers and equations in upper-grade math activities.
First, the students will come up with four equations representing their summer. The possibilities are endless. Consider the number of specific items you ate, pages read, hours slept, miles traveled, minutes watched, ounces drank, videos watched, steps taken...etc!
Next, students will draw or insert pictures from the internet and create a hashtag to represent their math equation. Classmate introduction can take up a lot of class time, so I have included the editable printable and digital versions if you are looking for a quick math all-about-me activity. This math resource is entirely customizable to fit your first day of math activity needs.
Subjects Covered
The beauty of this back-to-school math activity is that the subjects covered are countless because the students will write math equations that symbolize their summer. The equations or calculations your students pick will be differentiated entirely to their own capabilities as it will be the students deciding what to solve or how to represent their summer.
Some students have used equations with concepts such as Basic Operations, Base 10 Blocks, Measurement, Decimals, Percentages, Ratios, Scaling, Multiplication with Decimals, Area, Perimeter, Fractions, Sorting Least to Greatest, and more.
All About My Summer Math Activity has sections everyone can confidently complete while still containing no fluff because students come up with their own equations equal to their skill level. Ideal for a math pre-assessment/review activity.
